Rat
Terriers
really
are
"like a
big dog
in a
small
dog
body"!
They
seem to
forget
they are
a small
dog -
except
when
they try
to
lounge
with
their
family
members
on the
chair,
couch or
under
the
blankets
on the
bed! Rat
Terriers
will
alert
bark to
unexpected
sounds
at the
doors or
windows,
yet they
aren't
typically
"yappy".
Rat
Terriers
are a
durable
breed
that can
be
handled
by young
children
(with
proper
socialization
and
supervision)
without
fear of
injuring
the dog.

Terriers
was
founded
by
Valerie
Luchsinger
as a
hobbyist
beginning
in 2003
with our
first
Rat
Terrier,
a female
puppy
named
Kali (GRCH
King
Pen's
Kalifornia
Ratitatt
BIMBS).
Valerie
chose
this
breed
due to
enjoying
a family
Rat
Terrier
as a
child -
in
addition
to the
intelligence,
health
and
durability,
low
maintenance
of the
breed
(minimal
grooming
- a
"wash
and go"
breed
with
just
nail
trimming).
We've
been so
pleased
with
Kali and
her
accomplishments
that we
later
purchased
our
foundation
sire,
Buzzy (GRCH
King Pen
RB
Buzzabout
Ratitatt
BIS RBIS
BIMBS
RBIMBS
CGC).
Both
these
dogs
live in
our home
and have
proven
themselves
in the
conformation
ring,
with
honors
of being
on the
UKC Top
Ten list
for 4
years in
a row
(Kali
was #8
and #9
in 2005
and
2004, Buzzy is
ranked
#1 in
2006 and
#3 in
2007)!

Rat
Terriers
strive
to show
and
develop
Rat
Terriers
with
excellent
structure,
great
looks,
temperament
and
health.
We are
continually
trying
to
improve
the
breed
based on
general
correct
canine
structure
and the
written
UKC and
AKC-FSS
breed
standards.
Dogs
from our
bloodline
typically
are very
intelligent,
willing
to
please,
have
prey
drive,
yet are
easy to
live
with in
the
home,
making
great
family
pets.
When we
choose
to breed
a litter
on great
occasion,
we
strive
to
produce
a
well-rounded,
healthy
working
and
companion
dog. Our
offspring
are
currently
active
in the
conformation
ring,
agility,
narcotics
searching,
and just
being
loving
house
dogs.
